Benedikt Löwe has served in many governance roles at universities and in national and international academic organisations. He has initiated the conference series Foundations of the Formal Sciences (eight conferences; 1999–2013) and Computability in Europe (since 2005), organised many events, and served on the programme committee of many others.

His current governance roles include the offices of Secretary General of the International Union for History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST; 2018–2019 & 2022–2023) and Vice President of the Conseil International de Philosophie et des Sciences Humaines (CIPSH; 2023–2027).
